Hi, I’m Ilona, a 39 year old mum, wife and psychotherapist. I also suffer from Multiple Sclerosis. Having MS doesn’t define me, but it is a big part of why I am the person I am today and, in my case, it’s not entirely a bad thing.

The idea behind this space, is to help sufferers like me feel less alone, less scared, less vulnerable and I think there is no better time than now for that, when tensions are high and we are being labeled as vulnerable by society at large.

but you can start where you are and change the ending.”

My Vision, My Mission

I’ve had a vision for a while. I have, what I like to call, my mission. That's, what this is about. I’d like to raise awareness about MS as well as raise awareness about what it’s like to live with an invisible disability. When the idea of this blog came to mind, the idea was simple. I want to create a space where I can connect with others by sharing my experience, as well as some of the things I’ve learnt in my years on becoming a psychotherapist. Here, I hope to help people who like me, are struggling or suffering and I’d like them primarily to know, that they aren’t alone, because invisible conditions do that. They make you feel alone even if you’re surrounded by people that love you.

What is MS?

I have Multiple Sclerosis. This has been a secret of mine for what is now over a decade and the people that know this fact about me were few and far between.  As from today, however, I assume there will be a few more…

“What is MS?” If you asked this question to the next person in the street, chance is, they will have no idea. Chance is, you don’t know what MS is because sadly, there is close to zero awareness about this condition in […]

Waiting for Happiness

“You can’t wait until life isn’t hard anymore before you decide to be happy”

a quote by Nightbirde.

I’ve seen this quote shared so many times this last week and I myself, was one to share it. I shared it and I cried. It’s a statement that very well deserves to be shared a million times over because there has never been a statement more true. This, is the type of “influence” we need to […]

Finding Gratitude in the Darkness

March is MS awareness month! So, even though I seemed to be on a “blog-break” because I’m too busy writing my thesis, I couldn’t not stop to write a blog in honor of this important month. I decided to write something different to what I normally write, possibly because exactly a year into a pandemic, with pandemic-fatigue really kicking in, I feel I need this reminder for myself, because sometimes…I find it […]
